There is a lot to see and do!...with exhibitions that tell stories of great adventure on the water; of navy battles and mutiny; of migrants venturing across the seas; of ancient saltwater traditions and modern beach culture; of aquatic sporting achievements including Spirit of Australia the fastest boat in the world. The vessels at the museum's wharves reflect different facets of Australia's history, such as the last of the big gun destroyers HMAS Vampire and the submarine HMAS Onslow, which visitors can board and get a taste of naval life; the spectacular 1874 tall ship James Craig; a 19th century lighthouse. Come aboard Captain Cook's vessel of discovery HMB Endeavour or view a lively and varied program of special exhibitions which change regularly throughout the year.
The Australian National Maritime Museum is open daily (excluding Christmas Day) from 9:30 am - 5:00pm.
