Jaw-dropping physicality, striking design and an exquisite original soundtrack by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis combine to make Kafka’s dreamlike vision an electrifying reality.
Kafka’s terrifying but bizarrely comic story bursts on to the stage in a theatrically explosive new version by the Lyric Hammersmith’s Artistic Director David Farr and actor/director Gísli Örn Gardarsson of Iceland’s acclaimed Vesturport Theatre.
The ordinary, unremarkable life of the Samsa family is turned upside down when their son, Gregor, emerges one morning transformed into a monstrous insect. As revulsion turns to resentment, strange things start to happen to the family.
This acclaimed production has enjoyed two sellout runs in London and will arrive in Sydney following seasons at the Dublin Theatre Festival and Hong Kong International Arts Festival.
