Set in 10 of its original 206 hectares, Vaucluse House survives with house, stables and laundry, within parklands including pleasure gardens and a kitchen garden.
From 1827 to 1862, Vaucluse House was the home of William Charles Wentworth - explorer, barrister, patriot and agitator for self-government - his wife Sarah and their large family. Many of the Wentworth family possessions are displayed through the house.
The gift shop specialises in garden publications and unique gift ideas. The Vaucluse House tearooms are open during museum hours for light meals and refreshments. The 325 bus from Circular Quay and the Bondi Explorer bus stop outside Vaucluse House.
Closed Monday (except public holidays), Good Friday and Christmas Day.
